Tautuku Waikawa Lands Trust

The total number of registered members as of Sunday, 6 July 2025 is 2532.

The number is comprised from Te Kooti Whenua Māori - The Māori Land Court records.

TWLT manages over 1,300 hectares of SILNA area in 8 blocks and a reserve on your behalf. In addition to these blocks, TWLT works closely with other Tautuku blocks and their trustees, including:

  1. Section 2 Blk XIV Tautuku SD
  2. Section 14 Blk XIII Tautuku SD
  3. Section 15 Blk XIII Tautuku SD
  4. Section 6b Blk XIII Tautuku SD

The trustees have taken many positive steps in recent years in working with the whenua. However, it is essential to bring the owners and their whānau along on this journey. To achieve this, it is crucial to communicate effectively and build on whānau engagement; maintaining updated records is also essential.

Te Kooti Whenua Māori has supplied original public records of current owners. These records do not include addresses, phone numbers, or emails. With plans for future economic development, grants, and the establishment of land-based activities for whānau, the trust needs to maintain accurate records to inform you and your whānau of updates and opportunities.

We encourage you to update your records here. Registrations go through a verification process to ensure that only verified individuals can be registered as owners. We can also register other whanau who may not be owners (or are yet to complete succession through the Māori Land Court) but look after the interests of other whānau who are owners. You can register as an affiliate and list the owner as a contact.

To encourage you, the trustees have approved a $2,000 scholarship Koha that can be applied for by the Tamariki of owners, to be granted in January 2026. Details of this process will be advertised in December 2025 to all owners with updated contact details.

We also wish to engage with owners in the above blocks. You can register as an owner within the database and as an affiliate of TWLT through the TWLT portal. The trustees have engaged with a Māori-centric business based in Waikato to provide our database service. They currently manage 900 iwi, hapū, or Māori Blocks throughout the motu. The process will include setting you up with a secure and encrypted username and password, as well as the ability to enter your correct contact details, including address, phone number, and email address.
